Mirror’s Edge 2: Series title might come back from the dead
Like a hissing punctured balloon, many in the video game blogosphere community let out a loud collective sigh when news broke a few months ago that Mirror’s Edge 2 was no longer being developed. Mirror’s Edge is a critically well-received first person action game known for its wide range of action and fluid movement options. Although it didn’t make enough sales to meet EA’s thresholds for further development, many Mirror’s Edge fans were excited when EA announced Mirror’s Edge 2 was under development.

Sadly, they were disappointed when EA announced that Mirror’s Edge 2 stopped development. Well, it looks like Mirror’s Edge 2 fans might (again, the word is might) go back to smiling again because Frank Gibeau of EA Games has said that EA games haven’t “killed Mirror’s Edge”. According to Gibeau, EA is actively thinking of ways to bring back Mirror’s Edge 2 “the right way”. Apparently, many game critics weren’t alone in loving the game since Gibeau says EA shares the same sentiment. According to him, Mirror’s Edge 2 has to have a “big idea” in order to successfully follow up its predecessor. When asked if such a “big idea” involved Frostbite 2 (the awesome game engine behind Battlefield 3), Gibeau said “you’ll see that combination, I’m sure.” These words aren’t set in stone and they sure are far from an official announcement. Still, it does give many Mirror’s Edge 2 fans hope.
