Mirror’s Edge 2: Possible Mirror’s Edge sequel to be ressurected?
There were was quite a chorus of groans heard all over the blogosphere when reports surfaced that EA has stopped development on Mirror’s Edge 2. Well, it now appears that this change might be more of a resource allocation issue considering the huge amount of manpower and resources required by DICE, the developer of Mirror’s Edge 2, for its other projects. DICE is the studio handling the Battlefield series and in charge of Medal of Honor. Both these huge projects require a large chunk of resources and this might explain why they have been preoccupied with games other than Mirror’s Edge 2. DICE is very much aware of the very vocal and very loyal Mirror’s Edge 2 fan base, albeit a smaller one at that.

According to a recent interview with DICE CEO Patrick Soderlund, it is clear that DICE has not “abandoned” the Mirror’s Edge 2 franchise. They are working on something but he would not elaborate further. While he didn’t say too much about Mirror’s Edge 2, he did give its fans quite a bit of hope. The good news is that the series sequel is still alive and hasn’t been abandoned and DICE is already working on Mirror’s Edge 2 (albeit at a pace series fans might find as slow). What’s more, Mirror’s Edge 2 might be featuring the Frostbite 2 engine that is working wonders for Battlefield 3. According to Frank Gibeau, EA head honcho, “We haven’t killed Mirror’s Edge, we’re actively looking at how to bring it back in the right way… You’ll see that combination I’m sure.” Now, talk about giving hope to the previously hopeless!
