Metal Gear Solid – Ground Zeroes: Not Like the Others

Of all the very interesting things to come out of PAX, it was probably this curious video from Konami, detailing the opening cinematics and about 15 seconds of gameplay from Metal Gear Solid – Ground Zeroes that really captured people’s attention.

From what we have seen so far, the core ideas haven’t really changed. In the video we see snake infiltrating a heavily armoured compound. Pretty much like the stealthy boss he has always been since about 2008. My overwhelming feeling was that the weather is going to play havoc with the consoles, all that rain? But I am sure Kojima has something up his sleeve, like the mad scientist he isn’t.

The game is an open-world stealth game, making it a bit of a change from the other games. It will be nice to see how Snake survives in a sand-box environment. Powering those awesome graphic is the Fox engine, which is Kojima Productions’ standard gaming engine. It looks like they have done a pretty decent job too, looking at the footage from PAX.

It certainly will be interesting to see how this game pans out. As yet there is no release scheduled. But watch this space, because I am sure we will start to here more whisperings very soon.
