Medal of Honor – Warfighter: Game to arrive in October
Developer Danger Close is going to be brining the next installment of the Medal of Honor series to store shelves come this fall. October, to be more precise. What makes this announcement more interesting than the standard announcement of yet another first person shooter is the fact that this title will be running DICE’s Frostbite 2.0. If you’re a first person shooter player or have played Battlefield 3, more likely than not, you’ve heard of Frostbite 2. Frostbite 2′s inclusion in Battlefield 3 made many hardcore gamers check out that title. It also expanded quite a few players’ conception of what’s possible in an FPS game.
The Frostbite engine was originally used by EA for its sports title. It has since expanded the level of realism possible for first person shooter games and will likely be featured in other genres EA develops titles for. Warfighter, according to initial reports, follows a band of Tier 1 Operators. This focus is similar to the previous installment in 2010. While Danger Close will be using Frostbite 2, it will go its own way when it comes to multiplayer functionalities. Danger Close will be developing the game’s multiplayer component in house. There no word so far regarding the platforms Medal of Honor – Warfighter will support but if it follows in the footsteps of the series’ 2010 release, it will be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
