Killzone 3: Standalone Multiplayer Version Coming Soon to PSN
If you have ever wondered if you can play Killzone 3′s multiplayer functionalities separately, wonder no more. The multiplayer component of this Sony-exclusive first person shooter game will be available for download from the Playstation Store soon. Reported by no less than the Playstation blogcast, Killzone 3 players looking for a pure multiplayer experience can download this version this week. What’s more is that the game will have a free version. What is inside the free download game pack? All multiplayer maps.
Before you start salivating and close this window and zoom on down on the Playstation Store, you have to keep in mind that the multiplayer has a level cap. If you want to unlock the game for full multiplayer functionality, doing so will set you back $14.99. Taking into consideration other games and DLC packages, $14.99 is not a bad price to pay for unlimited multiplayer action and excitement. Many first person shooter titles have really fully leveraged the DLC model. This is one of the few that segregates the multiplayer version from the rest of the title. Is this a one off experience or will this be the start of a wave of publishing “multiplayer only” standalone versions?
There are a lot of hot FPS brands that might be very interested in how Killzone 3′s moves play out.
