Grand Theft Auto 5: Release Date in October Possible
Well, this is a turn up for the books. Industry analysts, Wedbush Securities, have indicated that they feel it is very likely that we could be seeing the long awaited Grand Theft Auto 5 as early as October this year. The announcement comes as a result of the sad news that Take-Two Interactive have delayed the release of BioShock – Infinite until February 2013.
Michael Pachter, analyst for Wedbush securities, and industry big mouth, released a statement defining his prediction. He is of the opinion that the postponing of BioShock – Infinite has left a window open for another AAA title to launch, without risk of competition from other developers. Pachter is convinced that Rockstar are positioning themselves to manipulate the market in such a way to maximise profit. Just a week ago Pachter also set the rumor mill into overdrive by predicting that Rockstar will announce a grand Theft Auto 5 release date the day before E3 in order to steal the thunder from the other developers. Obviously we have no proof that Rockstar will do any such thing, but to be honest, it is questionable whether or not Rockstar would need to resort to dirty tricks to sell copies of Grand Theft Auto 5.
Personally, in all my years in the industry, I cannot remember when just the rumor of a title has ever caused such a ripple of excitement as Grand Theft Auto 5. Rockstar must know this. They are better off ploughing all of their energy into meeting fans’ unbelievably high expectations for this title, than messing around with market manoeuvrings.
