Borderlands 2: Creature Slaughter Dome is Exclusive Content

More and more we are beginning to see this. Publishers are locking content to certain retailers, whoever can afford to pay the price. What this does for the industry is debatable. It certainly means that independent retailers can never hope to compete with the larger companies chasing the greasy advertising dollar.

This time it is the turn of GameStop, that has managed to secure exclusive content for Borderlands 2. If your are in the US then you could be in with a chance of getting your hands on the Creature Slaughter Dome DLC. This imaginatively titled content does exactly what it says on the tin. Players will be put into an arena and then they will have all manner of beasts come at them in a frenzied attack.

All sounds good, until you hear that owners will also get XP and loot drops. All of which they get to keep. Now it is looking like you might actually have to buy the game from GameStop to stay competitive.

This may sound a little ranty, but it is time that publisher woke up and smelled the coffee. If they want people to actually buy their games instead of turning to illegal methods of obtaining them then they need to stop with all of this manipulative nonsense. For those of you who where planning on going to GameStop then it is possible that this will not bother you in the slightest, but there are some people that prefer not to use the company for various different reasons, and publishers are forcing us, the customers, to shop where it likes. It’s almost like they have forgotten who has all the power here.
