Alan Wake: Game Might Never Come to the PS3
The PC version of the cult hit thriller suspense game Alan Wake has awakened some hope in the minds of some Playstation fans that, maybe, just maybe, the game’s future installments will get a playstation port. Apparently, this is never going to happen.
At first, it seemed reasonable to hope since the title did sell north of two million copies and probably has generated enough revenues which could be used to develop multi-platform sequels. Sadly, the developer of Alan Wake, Remedy, has ruled out any such moves-not for the current version of the game nor for its sequel. Ouch. Talk about feeling like you got kicked in the teeth. No less than the head of Franchise development at Remedy, Oskari Häkkinen, said that the game series (mind you, the series, not just the current game-how’s that for finality?) will never appear on the current generation of the Sony Playstation.
This is quite surprising considering that Remedy is a third-party studio that isn’t owned by any console company. Second, Remedy actually owns the Alan Wake intellectual property. Still, as they say, hope springs eternal. Given that there are rampant rumors of a Sony PS4 in the works, does Hakkinen’s pronouncement shut out the possibility of a game sequel being released on the PS4? Remember, he said the game won’t appear on the current generation.
