Mortal Kombat – Vita: Vita Video Shows off Hard Action Moves

Let’s face it, the arcade fighting game classic Mortal Kombat has a very violent reputation to uphold. Indeed, it made a name for itself in the increasingly crowded fighting game genre by going all out in its depiction of decapitations, dismemberment, digital blood spattering, and other gruesome explorations of dealing death.

Given its pedigree for fatalities and creative portrayals of painful death, it would be comforting to game purists to know that such raw ‘in your face’ physical immediacy was translated smoothly onto Mortal Kombat’s new handheld console home – the PS Vita. Of course, there has to be some slight adjustments. See below.

In the latest trailer for the PS Vita Mortal Kombat port, we are treated to the same classic unapologetic Mortal Kombat action with some funky twists. For example, there’s an obviously Fruit Ninja-inspired game which takes full advantage of the handheld’s tilt mechanics. Of course, it wouldn’t be a true Mortal Kombat game without a decapitation. All in all, the trailer convincingly shows that the PS Vita can more than handle all the graphics processing punishment and game mechanics requirements Mortal Kombat can dish out.

There is still no release date yet for MK on the Vita. However, expect it to happen some time in Spring.
