Grand Theft Auto 5: PS Vita Port Looking Likely [UPDATE]

[UPDATE] Looks like we fell for it. This was indeed an April Fool’s joke. It originated from a fake cover for Play Magazine (circulating on NeoGaf). We have updated the picture accordingly.

This month’s copy of Play magazine boldly states that according to numerous sources, a PS Vita port of Grand Theft Auto 5 is looking increasingly likely. This is of course all just speculation at this stage but industry analysts have made some very compelling arguments.

Regular games commentator Wedbush Morgen analyst Michael Pachter believes that, although it is hard to predict when the handheld console will see the game that it certainly will at some point. Probably during 2013. Jesse Divinch, another industry analyst said that he believed a Vita port would have a strong enough reception to warrant the release. The possibilities are of course mind blowing for owners of both a PS3 and a Ps Vita as it could mean that they could be sat at home playing GTA 5 and then pick up their PS Vita on the way out the door and continue playing right from where they left off. This would only be the case of course if the game is the same on the hand-held as on the home console, but still, it is a nice thought.

The PS Vita could also work very well for a Grand Theft Auto game. The high-resolution and the duel sticks would make navigation really quite pleasant. Having played Grand Theft Auto on an iPhone I can vouch for it sometimes being a little tricky to see all the action because a sizeable proportion of the screen is covered by the thumbs. The PS Vita wouldn’t suffer from this problem of course. Still. Certainly an exciting idea.
