Dust 514: Impressive 30 Minute Demo Shown Off

The developer CCP is known for its popular space-based MMORPG Eve Online. It looks like Eve Online will not be the only title this developer will be known for soon enough. The developer has an ambitious new game it is working on. Called Dust 514, the game has a 30 minute demo out and it is quite impressive.

Dust 514 is an upcoming massively multiplayer FPS title for the PS3. As the demo shows, it packs quite a visual punch and the game’s graphic design elements are quite smooth. There are hints of early Halo’s excitement in some of the demo’s sequences. Talk about a raw and powerful fps experience. What makes Dust 514 extra exciting is that CCP has linked the game to the game world of Eve Online. The actions of players in Dust 514 will impact directly the game world of Eve. The same goes the other way-Eve Online players will impact the the game world of the MMFPS world of Dust 514. Talk about a cross platform game synergy. PS3 players will get to battle for planets under the command of their officers in the PC game. It sounds like an interesting concept but we’ve seen interesting plans before that did not quite pan out. It is all about execution and CCP definitely has the development experience to pull it off.
