Zwei: Resident Evil Creator Reveals New Project
For better or for worse, the long-running Resident Evil series has almost become synonymous with the genre. The brand identification is so tight that there has been a movie based on the series. The game has set the standard for games that wish to enter this niche.
While it can be argued that its glory days might possibly be over and it might have shared the fate of that other long-running Japanese trailblazer, Final Fantasy, the contributions of Resident Evil to the genre cannot be denied. No wonder the game’s name still gets attention. It looks like the same creative powerhouse behind Resident Evil has a new project and he has his sights trained on the genre he helped Resident Evil dominate. Codenamed “Zwei,” the new game is being developed by Shinji Mikami’s new design studio, Tango Gameworks. There is some very early concept art released for the game. The only things that are certain, at this stage of development, is that the game will be in the survival horror niche. Powered by Mikami’s creative genius, Zwei aims for a “pure” survival horror gaming experience. Mikami said that a real suvival horror game involves players confronting and overcoming fear.

We are not quite sure what that exactly all that involves in terms of nitty gritty details but given the marquee name behind this venture and his track record of producing games that are spot on, we have full confidence that it will be awesome.
