Transformers – Dark of the Moon: Bumblebee’s militant side shown in Dark of the Moon

One of the constant fan favorites in the whole Transformers franchise, whether in its original cartoon format or in the recent uneven live action versions, is Bumblebee. There is something about the small yellow compact or subcompact car turned robot that connects with fans all over the world. Maybe it’s his sidekick persona or his constant attempts to get noticed and “prove himself”.

Or maybe its just the wider appeal of subcompact cars in general. It wouldn’t be a stretch to see people identifying with this Autobot because they themselves drive a compact–whether it is a VW Bug, AMC pacer, Suzuki Swift, or even a Chevy Camaro. Regardless, fans of this irrepressible character are in for quite a shock to see Bumblebee show off his asskicking capabilities in the the new Transformers game–Dark of the Moon. Based on the release video, Bumblebee packs a lot more firepower than previously depicted. He has definitely morphed, in this game, from his usual pesky sidekick persona to a force to be reckoned with.

Bumblebee’s latest incarnation will involve a triple state transformation from robot to vehicle to armed vehicle. This definitely means that armed vehicle combat will factor big time in this release. The new version will be developed by High Moon Studios for the the PS3 and Xbox 360 platform. The game engine is the same Unreal Engine 3 engine that was used in the previous installment of this franchise.
