Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon – Future Soldier: Former Navy Seal Confirm Game’s Realism
The upcoming tactical shooter game Ghost has a new series of promo videos out. The videos stand out because they focus tightly on how accurate and true to life the missions found in the game are. The trailers compare game missions with real special ops operations. The series is called “Believe in Ghosts” and has one trailer released so far. In this first trailer, Richard “Mack” Machowitz, a former Navy SEAL, walks us through the scenarios and elements of the game and how they stack up against the gritty world of special ops.
The first trailer outlines the real-life drama involved in the kidnapping of American captain Richard Phillips off the coast of Somalia by pirates. In response, the US military drops off a spec ops team on the USS Bainbridge under the cover of nightfall. The team positioned themselves in separate hidden sections of the Bainbridge. They came equipped with infrared scopes. Four Somali pirates surround the captain on a lifeboat some distance away from the Bainbridge. After the pirates started becoming irate, the spec ops team executed three simultaneous head shots to take out three of the four kidnappers. According to the trailer, the same advantage of night time precision shooting and mobilization is available in Ghost Recon.
However, players get the added advantage of “ghost” technology-super stealth technology that allows you to do one type of game mission: extracting hostages from enemy control without being discovered. The video then proceeds to walk us through one such operation.
