The Elder Scrolls: Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game Officially Announced
[UPDATE] Now with added teaser trailer. I wanted to write the title as “The Elder Scrolls in MMO Shocker” as a measure of just how unsurprised I was to hear the news that Zenimax Studios (parent of Bethesda) are working on an online multiplayer game set in the world of The Elder Scrolls. Instead I just settled on writing out MMORPG in full because I just like hearing that combination of words.
Bethesda have announced that the entire land of Tamriel will be opened up and players will be able to take on solo missions, co-op, PVP, basically everything that you would expect from an MMO. This is the first time the franchise has attempted a multiplayer. Which is a little surprising really because the vast open world is perfect for it. The has been a basic multiplayer mod, but it really is just that. Basic. Players can’t take on missions and stuff, they just get to run around the world together. I think we can expect a lot more from Zenimax. But just what we can expect is still somewhat vague. As I write this I am expecting Bethesda/Zenimax to release a teaser trailer so that we can hopefully learn a little more. So far we know that the tamriel-based game will be set a thousand years before the events of The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim. A deadric prince, Molag Bal, is disturbing the peace by trying to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm. The plan is to release the MMO for PC and for Mac.
We know nothing further having seen the teaser… So what do you think? Are you excited? Leave you thoughts in the section below.
