The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim: Popular RPG Goes to Space
The Skyrim Creation Kit has been released and the Steam Workshop for The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim is now in operation. Valve celebrates by launching a Portal 2 mod that adds a talkative Space Core that can accompany you in your Skyrim explorations. The mod’s name is ‘Fall of the Space Core, Vol. 1’. It is currently downloadable from Steam.
According to its description, Valve and Bethesda partnered up to create and distribute the mod. You get around Tamriel with a robot from space, basically.
Skyrim is one of the biggest video games of 2011. You may even humorously refer to it as the best 2011 release that does not feature Nolan North, who is considered as some kind of video game leading man. The mod, however, solves your little Nolan North problem. This time around, you can say for sure that he is part of Skyrim. So how good is this robotic mod? Well, it looks great, giving the wilds of Tamriel a techie and out-in-space vibe. However, your little robot companion does not hover near you – I am thinking about the girl robot in Wall –E. It also does not warn you of an incoming dragon attack. Isn’t it supposed to boast of high technology? Why can’t it be decked with some sort of radar that somehow senses dragons? The robot also does not provide the much-needed humor when trudging along dreary paths, alone. Well, you will still feel alone even if the robot accompanies it. The closest pal-like activity you can have together is football. However, how helpful will that be?
With the Skyrim Creation Kit out and the workshop launched, there are expectations of high doses of creativity buzzing over the heads of Skyrim fans. Maybe you can create a mod that is useful and coherent?
