The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim: DLC Hidden in Update Folder?
Hidden inside a forgotten folder deep in the bowels of the latest update, those clever people of The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim official forum seem to have stumbled upon some unexplainable data. The folder seems to contains assets for a Snow Elf Princess and other Snow Elves, new weaponry, such as crossbows, and updates for the Vampire class.
The folder in question is called DLC01 and it comes with the 1.5.26 update. Goes to show what a little snooping can do. Peter Hines remains tight-lipped about any Skyrim DLC, but he did say that his team were working to get more information out. They better get a shift on though as to be honest it is only a matter of time before it leaks. And then the big announcement from Bethesda will be ruined. A real thunder stealer. Last month ZeniMax Media (the folks that own Bethesda and also the folks that sued Mojang over use of the word “Scrolls”) filed a trademark for Dawnguard, which naturally caused a stir that this might be the title for the first Skyrim DLC. It seems a shame that we have heard nothing about that supposed fully built Tamriel, that was seen in the far off difference from a Skyrim shore.
So if we are going to meet the Snow Elves in a DLC update does that mean we are going to learn more about the Dwermer? That could be really cool. And it looks as if Bethesda are planning on adding a bite kill cam animation for the the vampires which would also be pretty cool. It might feel really frustrating that Bethesda are taking such a long time to bring us DLC for Skyrim. But actually I feel it’s quite refreshing. It is certainly a far cry from the Activision and EA DLC release models.
