StarCraft 2: MLG Awards – A Major Plus for Industry
Major League gaming (MLG) Pro Players have been voting for weeks. Finally, they have chosen 2011’s very best for the 2011 MLG Pros’ Choice Awards, which was sponsored by Stride. MLG then revealed the winners.
The Pros voted on each other for various categories across three MLG 2011 Pro Circuit titles. These titles are Call of Duty – Black Ops, Halo – Reach and Starcraft 2 – Wings of Liberty. Through these titles, they were able to determine the very best. For the Stride Longest Lasting Player, Naniwa wins for Starcraft 2, Jkap wins for Call of Duty – Black Ops and Pistola wins for Halo – Reach. For the breakout player awards, Leenock wins for Starcraft 2, John wins for Call of Duty – Black ops and Formal wins for Halo – Reach.
It must have been fun not only participating in the games and winning a prize but also in participating in the voting. Another great thing that comes out of this other than the recognition of worthy players is the highlighting of the fact that Major League Gaming is becoming big. Soon, it seems, the video gaming industry will be seeing more people participating in events such as these. There will no longer be a question of just how profitable or worth it is to televise such an event.
The 2011 MLG Pros’ Choice Awards is then a great thing for video gamers not just in the realm of recognition but in the spirit of continuing and raising a tradition. I think gamers would be even more eager to participate knowing just that.
