Star Wars – The Old Republic: BioWare Bans Player Due to Lack of Meme Knowledge
It seems that meme knowledge is becoming very important in the virtual world. BioWare’s lack of such knowledge has made it ban a user for being underage. We can understand that BioWare certainly has a lot on its plate. Star Wars – The Old Republic is a highly-anticipated game but its launch was far from smooth. After a few rough patches, the MMORPG finally got things right. However, BioWare is apparently still rattled with all the things that it has to do and has to monitor that it has been making some mistakes. One of such mistakes is banning a player for being underage. SWTOR’s Terms of Service strictly prohibits underage gamers.
The age minimum is not even that high. BioWare does not allow anyone who is below 13 years old to own the account and play the game. This is a serious matter for BioWare as has been proven just recently because an anonymous user got banned because of a forum post that read:”I’m 12 and what is this.” BioWare turns out to be unfamiliar with this meme, which has started getting around in 2009. This started when a group of YouTube pranksters posted pornographic material on the video-sharing website. These materials are falsely placed under popular teen subjects, which The Jonas Brothers is an example. A victim ended up watching a video from and made a comment, “I am twelve and what is this.” That was how that meme got started.
Nowadays, people use the meme to react or respond to inappropriate posts or material. Most likely, the banned user was doing this jokingly in a forum. While BioWare needs to know more about memes and such, users should also be aware of rules and the possible consequence of their actions or posts.

The thread that contained the meme can no longer be accessed. BioWare may have accepted its fault on the matter. We hope.
