Resident Evil 6: Capcom Claims Teaser is Fake
I have been observing trends in the video game industry for quite a while now and this is not a boring job by any stretch by my imagination. What makes it exciting is not just the variety of game titles you get to follow and report about but also the sheer diversity of the marketing aspects of this industry. It truly is a very creative process and has a wide range of creative ways of marketing games and game titles. One aspect of marketing that has always fascinated me is the rumors and speculations.
Not all rumors and speculations are self-serving. I am not implying that all rumors and gossips started by publishers are to goose up the hype for their upcoming title. Lots of speculations, especially the false ones, are created just by fans who are really anticipating or wishing a loud for the developments they wish to see for their favorite titles. It appears that the recent Resident Evil 6 “teaser” trailer is false if we are to believe the blog reports saying that Capcom contacts confirm that these teasers are fake. There is one particular teaser that was supposedly shot at a Tokyo game show and according to Capcom contacts of IGN “Resident Evil 6 trailer is fake. This comes from multiple contacts at Capcom. Logo on this RE 6 teaser is the same as the supposedly teaser that was “leaked’ near Comic-Con is also fake.” Fake or not, this interesting looking trailer might be another example of a wishful thinking by a fan (and I’m sure there several Resident Evil fans out there) that there is a sequel for their favorite series.
