Portal 2: GlaDOS Voice Actor Will Feature in Valve’s Dota 2
At the Spike Video Game Awards’ red carpet, we get to see Ellen McLain. If you do not know who she is then shame on you. She is the voice actor behind Portal 2’s GlaDOS. Fans usually flock towards stars and athletes but it is actually more interesting, at least in my opinion, to get a shot of McLain’s smile. She even said that the whole thing, referring to the VGAs “is so funny” and that the last time she “was in a limo was in LA in 1981 with Rex Harrison.” This is just her second limo ride.
McLain is pretty gracious. She said that she is charmed by fan response to GlaDOS. She is also quoted saying, “I love the way the fans are wondering who is Chell, is Chell the offspring of GlaDOS and Cave Johnson, all this stuff. And I also think that the Portal games have drawn a lot of young women into gaming.” Her husband John Patrick Lowrie also does voices for Valve’s games. She said that they have “gone to some fancons, and the women are so excited, they come in and they’re either dressed up like Chell or they’re dressed up like GlaDOS.”

There is more of McLain that we are going to hear. In fact there is going to be a lot more. According to her husband, Lowrie, “there are like 100 characters, so we’ve done quite a few of them.” He is referring to the characters in Dota 2. Eric Wolpaw had just told them in the limo. What a productive limo drive that was.
