Minecraft: 1.8 pre-release beta leaked
How do you define a leak? Normally, a leak is a cause for embarrassment. It also tends to show developers’ messy development builds and a red face inducing look at the development rough patches still waiting to be polished. I am not sure if this would apply to Minecraft’s 1.8 update since Minecraft is still in its beta stage. Regardless, intrepid 4chan users have found a version of the 1.8 update on Minecraft developer Mojang’s site this past weekend. Game creator Notch himself admitted, via Twitter, that his teammate Jens Bergensten had uploaded the file for use by “expert users.”

Notche tweeted: “Ooh, looks like 1.8 has leaked, not that I’d ever admit that.
Be careful when installing software you don’t trust though.” Notch then proceeded to ask people who download the update to report any bugs. Kinda weird how it worked out, huh? Fans can now beta test a beta. Not that this is entirely strange and new to Minecraft since it does have a mod where you can play minecraft within minecraft. So why not a beta within a beta, right? This might all work out for the best. Jeb and crew can fix any bugs for pre-1.8 before 1.8 comes out. As for the actual release date of 1.8? We suspect that it might happen before MineCon in Las Vegas this coming November. What better way to launch Minecon than releasing 1.8 a week or two before the convention?
