Metal Gear Rising – Revengeance: Trailer teases a soon to be released reveal
You just gotta love game marketing. It is easy to think that a lot of the creative work occurs in the game development studio turning clever game concepts into immersive and awesome game experiences. Sure, that takes lots of creativity and technical know how. There is no denying that. However, you have to also give a lot of credit to game publishers’ marketing departments.
It takes a lot of creativity to make your game’s brand and message rise above the noise of competing games’ marketing hype. It’s a marketing jungle out there with lots of established and new platforms like social gaming all trying to get a piece of the lucrative gaming pie. Enter the latest innovation in game marketing: game trailers that tease upcoming reveals. The most recent example of this is Crysis 3. Well, it looks like good ideas don’t go unnoticed in the dog eat dog world of game marketing. Now, Kojima Productions is doing the same thing for the reveal for Metal Gear Rising – Revengeance. The reveal is set to drop on April 30 2012. The tease takes the form of a mini-trailer that runs only 30 seconds long. The trailer treats us to action-filled and bloody live action segments interspersed with some grainy images. It all ends with the mysterious tagline of “Make It Right”, a date, and link to the official site of Metal Gear Rising – Revengeance.
Of course, the teaser is mysterious and hard to make out. That is, after all, the point-to get your attention and keep it until the game drops more details. The game it teases has met some mixed reviews but it does pack quite a heavy following.
