Mass Effect 3: Latest Update Causes Widespread Crashes
The latest title update for the hit sci-fi roleplaying action adventure game Mass Effect 3 is causing quite a bit of a headache for many Xbox 360 players as well as some unlucky PS3 players. The latest update causes the game to crash once it is loaded. Players are basically stuck and can’t play the game.
While most of the players reporting this issue are Xbox 360 players, some PS3 players also report similar issues. How does the crash work? When a player installs the 4MB update, they cannot load the main menu for Mass Effect 3. The game goes into a loop where it tries to load while trying to contact servers of the game’s publisher, EA. Alternatively, the console simply crashes. Affected players swarmed the Twitter account for Mass Effect 3, @MassEffect, and the official forum by Bioware for Mass Effect 3 with complaints regarding this issue. The update was also accompanied by the free mutliplayer DLC, Resurgence. For its part, developer Bioware said that it was aware of the issues being faced by players. It asked players to help it fix the problem by supplying Bioware with information so the developer can pinpoint the source of the issue.
Players, for their part, have been sharing concocted work arounds to fix the issue like loading Mass Effect 3 while offline, clearing system cache, and other work arounds. While some report success with these techniques, others remain unable to play the game.
