LA Noire: Touch-control Version Released

If LA Noire floored you with its 40s crime noir sensibility and reinvention and reinvigoration of the detective game genre, wait till you play the game via touch control. Powered by OnLive technology, the game can now be played by direct screen swipes instead of virtual buttons or even the wireless controller produced by OnlLive.

This is a key development from OnLive’s announcement last December that it was going to release apps for tablets to help gamers access its cloud gaming service. Around the same time, Rockstar Games was also building touch controls for its awesome detective game LA Noire. To access the service, you need to get a free account at Onlive. You will also need to buy a copy of LA Noire from the digital distribution service. Or, if you want to make sure you like LA Noire before you plunk down some hard earned recession-era dollars for it, you can play the free trial on OnLive before committing. Thankfully, the free trial comes with no required installation. Currently, OnLive runs on Android-based tablets. The company said that is working on an iOS version. That version is still waiting to clear Apple’s app approval process. What explains the hold up? Maybe Apple is none too pleased with the app?  OnLive hasn’t confirmed what is causing the long wait in the approval process.
