L.A. Noire: Developer Teases New Project

There is a new game in the horizon that supposedly features “one of the great untold stories of the twentieth century.” At least this is according to Brendan McNamara, who is the former Team Bondi studio head.

Just a bit of background, Team Bondi was the studio that pioneered MotionScan Technology, which enables better character “acting” in video games. Despite its stellar contribution to the video game industry, the studio closed in October due to allegations of “harsh and brutal work conditions” and bankruptcy.

After the issues have somehow died down, McNamara is teasing a new video game project. He is the writer/director of L.A. Noire and the former Team Bondi studio head. He has not really given much details about the project and gave an answer during an interview with Eurogamer a, “We think the evolution from the Getaway to L.A. Noire and learning the lessons we did on the way, and some of the stuff about emerging storytelling, is definitely an avenue to pursue.”

He did say that there are already publishers interested in the project. McNamara, however, will need a new studio to get development underway. Finding a studio may be difficult based on the recent crash of Team Bondi.

The rights to McNamara’s L.A. Noire are already Rockstar’s. McNamara, furthermore, has become a liability of sorts. So, which publishers could actually be seriously considering his project? But aren’t you just a little curious about McNamara’s game idea? If he is telling the truth and publishers are willing to jump on board, the project must really be good considering McNamara’s tainted reputation.

The L.A. Noire Complete Edition can now be played on PC via Steam and OnLive.
