L.A. Noire: Controversial Team Bondi Head Announces New Project

How about a dish on a new video game project? Remember Brendan McNamara of LA Noire? Well, he ended up in KMM Studios, where many of his ex-employees are being taken in by filmmaker George Miller. McNamara is at KMM Studios to develop a video game entitled Whore of the Orient. This game is described as “one of the great untold stories of the 20th century.”  At least it is not a chapter of a Saints Row game, given the rather harsh title. Well, basing on the description, this is a historical game.

Looking back at the title, you may now associate it with the Chinese city of Shanghai.  It seems that the Asian City carried the nickname of “Whore of the Orient” before. With that in mind, you may imagine the game as set in the time when Shanghai became a place for Western traders to go to. The city had been controlled by American, British and French authorities. Also, there were many shady goings on there before. So, the name “Whore of the Orient” was pretty understandable.

If you still could not picture Shanghai then think back to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Dom. Remember the start of the film where Indiana Jones was in a shootout in a Chinese bar.  Well, if you can remember that part then you have an idea of what Shanghai may be like. With history including Shanghai’s goings-on in the 20th century, it makes you wonder what the untold stories are. There may be something more to the video game other than what has already been told about Shanghai.
