Half-Life 3: Origins Fan Film Is Amazing
Sometimes fans make up for things that the developers and the publishers cannot provide. Because of this, they make fan-made films, trailers and other things that can expand a video game’s world enough to satisfy them. This is also true when it comes to Half Life.
Many Half Life fans, me included, are still craving for that Episode 3. Valve certainly owes us that Episode 3. It is aware of it but apparently not doing anything or not enough. But Beyond Black Mesa’s creator had something for all of us Half Life fans, a Half Life – Origins fan film. The film is only two minutes long though, too short to satisfy but for those of us who are craving anything new from the franchise, it should be enough – for now. It is quite well done that you would think Blizzard made it just to tease us or to remind us about the original Half Life and its now dated visuals and also about our initial excitement overthe franchise’s beginnings. I would gladly take that chance to visit a bit of nostalgia.
Director Brian Curtin said, “After 10+ years since its release, if you ever go back and replay the original Half Life, it doesn’t look anything like you remember. The graphics are horrible compared to present day games, but years ago it blew my mind. This video plays with the contrast.” I so agree. Just viewing the two minute clip, I was transported to those first few moments I got to know about Half Life. It was sheer bliss but I still want Episode 3.
