Fifa 12: EA reveals this season’s cover stars
Soccer may not as be as popular as football in the US but that doesn’t seem to stop EA’s Fifa franchise being one of the most succesful sports titles of all time, with last year’s Fifa 11 selling 2.8 million copies across North America and Europe and grossing $150 million in retail in those areas combined.
Fifa 12 is due to land in stores September 27. With that release date in mind it seems that EA has seen fit to reveal the game’s brand spanking new cover. The US version will feature none other than LA Galaxy’s work horse, Landon Donovan, taking center stage. To his left (our right) is New York Red Bulls’ centre back/ defensive midfielder Rafael Márquez and finally gracing the cover with his natural British good looks is Manchester United’s star striker Wayne Rooney- complete with his mouth wide open.

Mr. Rooney’s trade mark scream is lucky enough to be featured not only on Fifa 12′s US front cover but also on the European and Australian covers as well. Only Spain, it would seem, is spared from being bellowed at by the man from Liverpool, England. And it would seem that once more EA have chosen to decorate their sports title with a picture of an athlete shouting at the top of their lungs, something which is becoming a bit of trend for this franchise in particular. Whatever the cover, Fifa 12 looks set to be a great deal of fun.
