Dirt 3: AMD Confirms Code Leak
Game card maker, AMD, has officially confirmed of earlier reports that Steam codes for Dirt 3, which were offered as part of promotion with Dirt 3 publishes Code Masters, have been compromised and distributed over the internet. It is an embarrassing example of promotional hacking, actually. We have people passing around codes to get copies of Dirt 3 for free. That’s the power of forums and social networking sites for you.
Regardless, AMD said that it will honor all valid game vouchers. Still, this security compromise will result in a “short delay” in honoring these game vouchers. AMD said, “This past weekend activation keys associated with free Dirt 3 game voucher shipping with select AMD products were compromised. These activation were hosted in a third party fulfillment agency website, www.amdforyou.com, and did not reside on AMD’s website. Neither the AMD nor code masters servers were involved. We are working closely with Steam, code masters, to address the situation. AMD will continue to honor all valid game vouchers. However, the current situation may result in a short delay before the vouchers can be redeemed.”

Nevertheless, it might still get people more excited about this promotion and about Dirt 3 so we’ll see how this influence its future sales.
