Diablo 3: Londoners Began Queuing Staurday
Well you have to hand it to the London, they bread some hardcore gamers. The HMV in London’s famous Oxford Street has seen fans queuing since Saturday for tonight’s midnight launch of Diablo 3. On Saturday morning the first expectant fan rolled up outside the store, with his tent and a homemade sign warning people not to cut the queue while he is sleeping.
Urban camping on London’s busiest shopping high street may not be everyone’s cup of tea but you have to hand it to this guys, that is extreme dedication. The launch party does not begin until 10pm tonight, with copies being sold at 11pm BST. Even once our friend has his copy he will still have to wait until midnight for the servers to go online, so what’s his motivation? Obviously he wants it for bragging rights. He wants the first the copy of Diablo 3 sold in London. He will also be among those attending the release party to brush shoulders with members of the original Diablo 2 development team who are there armed with pens.
With the release so close you can almost smell it, like a guy who has been camping for three nights on the dirty streets of London, the excitement is starting to overflow. 300000 fans logged onto the open beta a fortnight ago in an attempt to stress test the servers, but Blizzard will be hoping that a lot more will join the servers over the next few days. Tomorrow we will know for sure if the hardware is up to the job!
