Retribution trailer released

THQ’s trailer for Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War 2 – Retribution has debuted and initial reactions are very favorable. “Epic” is the first word that comes to mind of many in the gaming community blogosphere after viewing this visual treat. The 3D rendering is amazing and the action is very smooth. The dead emperor’s minions are back and they are out for blood.

Retribution’s gameplay samples in the trailer look very fluid, intuitive, and complement the crisp graphics. Visually, the newest installment in the Warhammer 4000 franchise looks like a step up from prior versions. Dawn of War 2 – Retribution is slated for release in early 2011 and we can’t wait–it will contain a new playable faction, new maps, and new multiplayer units.

THQ confirmed earlier that this expansion will incorporate Steamwork network and online gaming capabilities provided by Valve. This will allow Retribution players to add their Steam friends lists, groups, Steam chat, and achievements to their Retribution game panel. In addition, Retribution will include a newly designed matchmaking and player ranking system. According to THQ, this is a custom design for Retribution. The other benefits that Steamwork incorporation bring to the table are:

guest passes, promotional multiplayer events, preloaded patches, and easier and more seamless updates. The added robustness of these multiplayer features definitely make this expansion worth waiting for.
