Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 3: LAN Support Added
Maybe this is a sign that Call of Duty- Modern Warfare 3 is listening to its PC fans. Alternatively, especially if you’re a hater of the COD franchise, this might also mean as a desperate move to cater to a neglected demographic. Either way, Call of Duty- Modern Warfare 3 is going to come with LAN support. Local area support is a feature that many multiplayer games have been quietly ditching in the past few years. Previously, it was a standard feature in several shooter games.
We believe that this is a good thing. Not all First Person Shooter fans are on consoles or play using online servers. Players from emerging countries or other parts of the world use internet cafes. LAN support is perfect for that demographic setting. Starcraft, one of the largest LAN titles, did not include LAN support for Starcraft 2. But in Korea, where internet cafes have LAN setups, Starcraft 1 is very popular. You could see the potential of LAN support.
It seems that the Call of Duty- Modern Warfare3 does lean heavily towards PC fans because of the obvious LAN support being given. Nevertheless, Modern Warfare3 will also support dedicated servers and if you add this to the LAN support, this is a quite a pc-friendly title. Congrats to PC First Person Shooter players. Now, the only question is, will Battlefield 3 follow suit?
