Black Mesa – Half-Life: Fanmade Re-boot to Launch
Black Mesa, a fan made re-boot of Half-Life , began life in 2004. It seemed to have fallen into the void of vapourware, but on Saturday a first release date was published on the game’s website. Black Mesa will finally see release on September 14th.
The first release of Black Mesa will include the “re-envisioning of Half-Life all the way up to Lambda Core,” which offers up to 10 hours of gameplay. A post by project leader ‘cman2k’ on the forum confirms that the game will be made available on September 14th, but the team is “still working hard on Xen and BMDM, but instead of making you wait we are giving you Black Mesa as soon as it’s ready.” You can also download the soundtrack, courtesy of Joel Nielsen, for the “very generous price of whatever you want!” while you wait for the release of the game.

It seems that even though the Half-Life fanbase are still waiting for Half-Life 3, they are putting the time to good use. We will have a review of Black Mesa here on GameBandits so stayed tuned on September 14th for our verdict.
