Alan Wake: Title Sales Pass the Two Million Mark

The third person shooter psychological suspense thriller game Alan Wake has passed the two million mark. Developed by Remedy studios, Alan Wake has hit this sales figures through its PC and Xbox 360 formats. The head of franchise development at Remedy, Oskari Hakkinen, said that despite the game’s slow sales start, the game has achieved cult status.

He said that the game has legs and credits the game’s narrative experiences for its sales success. Hakkinen said that the original base of people that played the game appreciated the game’s story enough to recommend the game to their friends. This viral spread of the game resulted in a cult following for the suspense thriller title. As we reported earlier, the PC port of Alan Wake was released only a few weeks ago. The PC version of the game was released close to two years after the Xbox console version of the game. As mentioned by Hakkinen, PC version’s sales figures greatly helped to push the title over the two million mark. Good thing the PC version materialized-after several cancellations and a few delays, it looked like it was not going to happen. It would not be unreasonable to think that Remedy is glad it pushed through with the PC port. The question becomes-is there a sequel in the works?
