Alan Wake: Remedy cannot Publish this Title on PS3
Things with the Alan Wake franchise are just a tad more complicated than we thought. Remedy does own the rights for the franchise but it cannot publish Alan Wake for PS3. Why is this the case?
Let us look at what is going on. Remedy has acquired the rights for the franchise. Then, it announced the game for PC, which is something fans have been really waiting for. Now, fans are starting to wonder if maybe, just maybe, the title will also be arriving on PS3. But it won’t be the case apparently. Remedy’s Markus Maki has finally revealed what they are facing in terms of publishing their title for PS3. This is what he had to say:
“I would like to make it clear that Microsoft funded the production of the first Alan Wake game, and while they were happy for Remedy to now self-publish on PC it is highly unlikely they would want to see the game on a competing console. While we do own the Alan Wake brand, Remedy doesn’t have rights to publish THE Alan Wake on PS3.” Now that makes things very clear. So, Remedy owns the Alan Wake brand. However, it cannot publish the game on PS3.

What do you think about this issue? Should Remedy be given the complete rights over its title? Or is it just right that it respects the agreement it had with Microsoft? After all, the software giant funded the production of the first Alan Wake. Do you have any more suggestions about this matter?
