NHL 13: Female Legends Added
EA may be public enemy number 1 within the gaming industry right now, but I have to say that they have actually pulled a blinder of a decision. As much as it pains me to do so, I have to applaud their latest decision to add two female hockey stars to the playable legends roster in NHL 13.
OK, this is far from being a Nobel winning achievement but it is certainly a step in the right direction for the gaming industry in general. The pioneering athletes are Team USA’s Angela Ruggiero and Canada’s Hayley Wickenheiser. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I am wracking my brains to think of any other sports titles, like NHL 13, that have included stars from the female game. Certainly not in any of the American Football or Soccer games.

Of course, there aren’t any full female teams available but this is quite a trail blazing start that needs to be encouraged. I feel that EA are probably just testing the water by including just two star female athletes. Regular readers of GameBandits will gawk at my spending the time to write anything postive about EA but I have to say that this time they have really surprised me.
I have never owned a hockey game before, but do you know what? I think I might have to give NHL 13 a try.
