Mortal Kombat 9: New DLC character Rain due on July 19

Mortal Kombat 9′s downloadable character parade continues to roll. We’ve already seen the blind swordsman, Kenji, who can pack quite a wallop. We’ve been treated to the redheaded assassin Skarlet. Now, we’re confronted with a purple ninja called Rain.

Rain is quite an addition to the Mortal Kombat hero pantheon. Rain uses the elemental power of water to deal out massive amounts of punishment. Even encasing enemies in a bubble of water before dispatching them. He also uses green and purple force fields to blast and bind enemies. His fatal moves involve breaking an opponent’s bones and crushing their skulls. He definitely carries Mortal Kombat 9′s overall style of no holds barred fighting action.

    Ive followed this franchise right from the beginning. Im not sure that DLC is such a good thing. it seems that teh days are gone when all the characters just came in the box. i think its just milking the cash cow.

      @Gary while I agree with you that DLC seems like it is money grabbing I actually think that DLC extends the life of the game by increasing playablilty. I also think that the DLC in Mortal Kombat 9 makes the game even more fun to play. The DLC doesn#t make you a better player it just adds a bit of variety. It’s not like DLC in Call of Duty – where the game balance is effected by the DLC.

    i think the dlc are the best thing they can do. the main problem is, that this game would be uninteresting when there are always the same characters in mortal kombat 9 . with dlc you can download characters or not, that’s your choice. so i don’t understand your point that they just want to milk the cash cow. it just makes the game stay interesting.

    with all the new dlc’s there are way too many characters in mortal kombat 9 :S i got all of them, but i’ve only played with freddy, jade and rain.
    in my opinion rain is one of the best dlc’s, maybe one of the best characters in the whole game. he got some very nice skills.

    rain is with distance the strongest dlc in mortal kombat 9. he looks like subzero and scorpion which are both my favourite characters^^ freddy is also not bad, but he’s not better then rain ;)

    i don’t like the dlc’s… they just look strong in their trailers, but their gameplay is not as good as it seems, but that’s just my opinion :S
