Mortal Kombat 9: Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees considered for DLC
Almost as soon as developer Netherrealm announced Freddie Krueger’s inclusion as a DLC character for Mortal Kombat 9, the gaming blogosphere’s creative engines went into overload. Speculation abounded about Michael Myers of Halloween fame making the rounds in Mortal Kombat 9 as a slashing psychopath. Fan blogs also speculated about Friday The 13th’s Jason Voorhees making the cut.

Actually, Netherrealm did consider these two classic horror/slasher movie characters as possible DLC candidates for Mortal Kombat 9. According to Ed Boon, the co-founder of the Mortal Kombat series, the developers considered a few names – Jason and Michael Meyers came up – to “guest” feature as a DLC in Mortal Kombat 9. However, the developers felt Kreuger was the most familiar of the names proposed and went that direction.
