Mortal Kombat 9: Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees considered for DLC

Almost as soon as developer Netherrealm announced Freddie Krueger’s inclusion as a DLC character for Mortal Kombat 9, the gaming blogosphere’s creative engines went into overload. Speculation abounded about Michael Myers of Halloween fame making the rounds in Mortal Kombat 9 as a slashing psychopath. Fan blogs also speculated about Friday The 13th’s Jason Voorhees making the cut.

Actually, Netherrealm did consider these two classic horror/slasher movie characters as possible DLC candidates for Mortal Kombat 9. According to Ed Boon, the co-founder of the Mortal Kombat series, the developers considered a few names – Jason and Michael Meyers came up – to “guest” feature as a DLC in Mortal Kombat 9. However, the developers felt Kreuger was the most familiar of the names proposed and went that direction.

      I would like if Jason and Michael were both in the game as playable DLC. I think they should use the new Jason and the new Michael, and don’t give Jason and Mike two weapons like you did to Freddy. lol It would be cool for sure.

    I had a feeling we will see more. My ideas are
    Conan the Barbarian and Spawn joining someday. Doesnt mean it will happen but not so far fetched. Conan is a brutal warrior(arnold version) and comic book character, and Spawn is a bllody gorey comic too. Both would fit in.
    As for this article; I hope they will make Jason and Myers. I feel this halloween we should see these dudes. Hell they can have all these chaaracters we mention…keep em coming Netherrealms. Lets kick Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom’s Ass for ripping off their customers. Thats why id like to see some dark comic book characters join. Maybe the watchmen can join in too.

    I think while we are add it we can add Sponge Bob Square Pants, Chuck Norris, Tina Turner, Optimis Prime, Pumpkin Head, Alf, and basically not make it Mortal Kombat anymore…

    I wish Freddy would have appeared in his own separate game, or in a Mortal Kombat vs Nightmares (Pumpkin head, Chucky, Pin head, IT, Jason, Michael Myers, Freddy) etc…

    Oh, yeah, I agree, the guy who mencioned Pin head as a DLC candidate is right, that would be great. Also Leatherface, Chucky, Jason and the guy of the movie “Evil Dead”, the one who has a saw on his hand… it would be a great Mortal Kombat this time, if they added those characters.     To the guy who said Jason was dumb and slow, have actually seen any of the Friday The 13th movies. He always shows up next to the victim to kill them. The remake explained that he runs after them, they could put the remake Jason in MK, they did use the remake Freddy after all.

    To “ahmet”: Jason is a high candidate to be in Mortal Kombat, and I’m pretty sure they will add him in some time. Michael Myers and Predator, I’m not sure but it could be very possible if we the fan send 1000′s of mails asking for those characters. Take it from me.

    well jason was the first thing that popped into my head! but if u put freddy and jason in you have to put Ash in ( Evil Dead, Bruce Campbel) cause there is a comic book where the three meet. and the story wouldn’t be to far of a stretch. freddy brings jason with them and the necronomacon transports as to the MK multiverse.

    If they plan on releasing dlc in the same 4-character waves as they have this is what they should do: a new original character in the vein of skarlet then two classic character and finally another novelty character. Who? I like the idea of pin head but if they want variety it should be something unexpected. Like ash from the evil dead series would be a good idea

    I love the idea of mk vs nightmares. Freddy, jason ,myers etc. How bout snake eyes, quick kick, storm shadow and, spirit (who could be tied into nightwolf) from gijoe? Or he man but not so nice? lol. I agree not to ruin mk by throwing in tons of chars but we are dreaming right? Id love to see movie chars in an mk or similar game. Like rambo, terminator, van damme, seagal, conan, rocky, just whoever. Add in deadliest warrior chars. Just some ideas.

    Mr. boon, I’ve been a Mortal Kombat fan from the first MK, adding these characters are great but I really would like to see some old time favorites as well( Frost, Kira, Tanya ecet ). Looking forward to the MK 1, 2, & ultimate MK pack. Thanx for the remake that makes MK timeless.

      Jason, Myers, and Predator are sick, but guys this is Mortal Kombat. How come nobody has mentioned Cyber Smoke, Shinnok or Fujin, if u played MK since u were a kid you would agree with me. Ed Boon u should focus on the original MK characters before adding new ones.

    lol, Freddy is a fun person to put in, but unfortunately its not like the Mortal Kombat characters are frightened teenagers. the pretty much war hardened warriors. Plus, mortal kombat characters would be a lil desensitized to horror, so freddy would have to step up his game a hell of alot. cause the cast of mortal kombat has already been through hell, and back. not that im objecting im just saying. but, creators were thinkin more of the playing aspect. so its ok

    but, why stop w/ Freddy did it really have to be one or the other? in my opinion Micheal and especially Jason are just as recognizable as freddy. ive never met anyone who has watch a nightmare on elm st. film who doesn’t know who Jason is. Friday the 13th is every bit of an iconic horror film. and so is Halloween. So, as for the Familiararity excuse thats bs…thats just words the creator through out

    plus its a really popular anime the charecters are ban midou,ginji, beast master shido,threadmaster kazuki,juubei,the joker emishi,lady poison, dr jackal akubane, i think u should put one of them in and i totaly go for michael but those charecters i listed would be good quality for the game and it somethin only few people no and theyd watchthe show and if they like the show theyed give u credit its a really good s how and there awsome charecters when they fight ive seen both season like 10 times and i think one of them would be good u could even put one of the vilians but i think u should watch it and ul see wat i mean and u will see that they make good mk charecters hope u will do that for me thats all i want for christmas

    i got the freddy dlc already, and to be honest i love playing as him, i think that jasnon and micheal would be great.Leatherface or even basement jack would be great,but im not gonna push either of those
