MLB 2K12: Title will support Baseball’s New Playoff Format
Regardless of when Major League Baseball’s new playoff format will be implemented, you can rest assured that MLB 2K12 will support the format change said 2K Sports, the publisher of MLB 2K12. Some game fans were quite unsure as to how the simulation game will handle the upcoming playoff format change that is going through the ratification process in the MLB.
What’s different about the proposed format? In a ten team playoff, two wild card qualifiers will face each other, one from each of the two leagues, in a one game elimination round. This is proposed to take place before each league’s division series. This is still a proposal with the MLB. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, this feature might be implemented as late as 2013. The change, if it pushes through, is quite momentous. This would mark the third time since 1903, when the MLB expanded its post-season. Regardless, 2K Sports have added this play-off format as an option when players use MLB 2K12′s new Franchise mode. This means that regardless of what postseason bracket the MLB adopts in 2012, MLB2K12 will support such a format-on disc. No need for a patch after the game’s release. Talk about being on the ball. On a related front, there is still no word regarding MLB The Show’s support for the proposed playoff format.
