Mass Effect 3: IGN Writer Included in Cast
Bioware has just confirmed its full list of Mass Effect 3 returning characters. It has also released a voice cast trailer, which revealed the actors behind the characters. Jessica Chobot, an IGN reporter, happens to be part of the voice cast. She plays Diana Allers. Fan reactions are pretty mixed about this.
The character’s outfit color looks like the one on what Miranda Lawson is wearing. She also has an Alliance News Network logo on her chest. Some gamers believe that this may be clues that Emily Wong will not be coming back. As a massive Mass Effect fan and a female games journalist, I am hella jelly of Jessica. However, what I am not jealous of is some of the feedback that her inclusion in the line up has received. The BioWare forums have revealed a less than clement sample of humanity. The comments kind of got stuck on the breast issue. For example, Stardusk78 commented that “her breasts need to be bigger in the game, otherwise, very good stuff” while Cmdr Pwn continued on this train of, I hesitate to use this noun, thought by saying, “…Also they should bounce a little when she walks.” I will not pass comment. I will let you form your own judgement.
Jessica Chobot’s character could be be a possible romance for Commander Shepard. The IGN reporter cheekily revealed she is “one of the ‘romanceable’ characters in the game” and that “you can romance me with a man or a woman.” That would be fine stuff commenters would be happy to see. Admittedly, pairing Diana with the new smoking hot, red haired Femshep does sound quite appealing…
We wonder a little at Chobot’s inclusion. It seems to be an attempt to gather more nerds into the Mass Effect 3 flock. Other fans, however, are confused and even outraged that she is a voice actor in the game. They have been taking their anger to Bioware forums, Twitter and even YouTube. These fans felt that a more experienced voice actor should have been picked for the role. I don’t necessarily think this. If she is good and right for the role then I don’t think experience has anything to do with it.Wwhat do you think about Jessica Chobot as Diana Allers? Is it enough that she is, in fact, ‘romanceable’?
