Madden NFL 13: New Commentator Roster Announced
Sports game commentary doesn’t get nearly the amount of attention and respect it deserves. Have you watched live NBA basketball with no commentary? It can be quite a different experience from watching a game with an able commentator like Chick Hearn calling the shots and fleshing out the plays. For better or worse, game commentary adds a layer of content to a game that can make it more entertaining and come to life.
However, not all game commentators are the same. Also, the wrong combination of commentators can make a game less satisfying. Leading football game simulator developer EA Sports knows this very well, that is why it is shuffling its Madden NFL commentary team. Gus Johnson and Cris Collinsworth are out. The reason? EA Sports said that the duo never really spent anytime in the game booth together-either for Madden or for TV sports coverage. The Collinsworth-Johnson duo will be replaced by two guys who actually spent a lot of time covering games together for CBS Sports. CBS Sports’ very own Phil Simms and Jim Nantz will be taking on the commentary jobs for Madden NFL 13.
