Guild Wars 2: Three Tiered Launch Times

With just a few days to go until the launch of Guild Wars 2, you are all probably wondering how ArenaNet are going to handle this much talked about three tried launch schedule. To save on any confusion, we thought we would be together a little package, so that you are all able to see, at a glance, how the schedule will effect you.

Firstly, those of you who have pre-purchasers the game will got a three day head start on those who didn’t. Your games unlocked about 15 hours ago. If you are not playing it yet, then what are you waiting for? This is why the rest of you will have been hearing a lot about this game. Those of you who have  pre-ordered the game will have their games unlocked at 00:00 PT on August 27th. And the rest of you, who have neither pre-purchased, or pre-ordered the game, will be able to get it at midnight Pacific Time on August 28th.

So there we go, yes the tiered system is a shameless ploy to encourage pre-purchases, and pre-orders. Yes, it probably also encourages piracy, as all staggered release dates do, and yes, it penalises people who aren’t able, or who don’t want to fork out the money upfront for a game they don’t even know they will like. But that is just our opinion on the Guild Ward 2 publishing strategy. You can leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
