Gamescom: Advance Saturday Tickets Only
Seeking to avoid a repeat of last year’s shutdown fiasco, Gamescom is changing this year’s ticket sales schedule. Gamescom is probably the largest gaming convention this side of the galaxy. How big? It packed a whopping 275,000 living souls last year and this figure is expected to get even bigger.
Now, that’s big! To avoid the frayed nerves and drama that ensured with last year’s Saturday shutdown, the Koelnmesse will be selling tickets for Saturday online. That’s right- no more Saturday entries sold via ticket sales at the door on the same day. Interested attendees should go to the Gamescom website on or before March 17 to register. Registered subscribers will get an email in April which will have a code they can use to buy the tickets early. The code grants holders with access to Saturday tickets and any other day. This gives you a chance to round up convention days before the general public does. How cool is that?
Late year, Gamescom got edgy when even organizers and staff shut off entrances “temporarily” when the venue reached its 62000 person capacity. Massive lines piled up outside of the convention venue as ticket holders couldn’t get in and crowds began to build. Quite a potentially unsafe situation. This new advanced ticket system should make things smoother this time around.
