Doom 4: Bethesda Denies Recent Rumors
When we hear the names Bethesda and Mojang, we cannot help but remember the “Scrolls” lawsuit. Of course, Mojang came out of the interim injunction triumphant and has since been on a roll – a great one at that. Bethesda Game Studios is also doing well with The Elder Scrolls – Skyrim. However, there are some pesky rumors that it has been trying to shoo away as of late. There are some loud whispers that its parent company Zenimax is about to postpone the Doom franchise indefinitely. Bethesda says that this is not true, at all.
Pete Hines, Bethesda’s VP of PR and Marketing, tweeted that this particular rumor is “complete bollocks.” Well, I sure hope so. But with that kind of conviction, it seems that we are going to see Doom 4 pretty soon. So why the rumor? Word has it that Zenimax was reluctant about Doom 4 because of Rage’s poor performance on the PC platform. Well, there was pretty much mixed reception regarding the multi-platform shooter.

Still, there are some fans that may go on to say that the rumor is illogical. After all, why should one game not be given a chance to succeed or fail just because another game has failed in one platform? I believe that the Doom franchise has enough fan backing to receive a more than decent reception. The rumor certainly has scared some fans. The best thing to do right now is to wait for regular updates and wait for confirmation before trusting rumors. Doom 4 may not have a definite release date yet but it has not been postponed, either.
