Dishonored: Peeking through Keyholes and Possessing Rats
Lets face it, we’re going to be hearing a lot more about Dishonored, and by the looks of what we’ve seen so far, with very good reason. It all began with an image.Bethesday kindly teased us with an image of Corvo before releasing their Dishonored reveal trailer. The industry was stunned by what they saw.
Dishonored promises to be a very ambitious title. The developers, Arkane Studios, have promised that the dream-like game world of Dunwall will meld to the individual playing style of the player. The player will take the form of the protagonist, Corvo, a supernatural assassin, and will stealthily guide him on his way to clearing his name, and ridding Dunwall of the corrupt aristocrats. However Dishonored is very surprising. The game encourages experimental gameplay, and there is always more than one way to achieve an objective. For example, Corvo has the ability to posses the body of every living thing for a few seconds. This includes, rats, fish, guards on the ground, those crazy cool walker things. Everything. he can also jolt a couple of seconds forward in time, allowing him to pop up on the otherside of doors or in the middle of a crowd without actually walking there. the physics of that blows my mind, but the fact remains he can do it.
The only problem, as I see it, with Dishonored is that it all sounds a bit too good to be true. Surely no game can offer as much as all that? The publishers, Bethesda, were of course responsible for Skyrim, no doubt an epic game but besieged with problems. None the less I for one cannot wait to hear more about Dishonored.
