Diablo 3: Not so new Developer Diary Released

Well Blizzard are at least trying to keep us entertained in the lead up to the release of Diablo 3. Their latest tidbit comes in the form of a developer diary featuring game director Jay Wilson, art director Christian Lichtner, and the lead software Engineer Jason Regier. So all the big guns really.

The video itself however is something of a time capsule. The guys were actually interviewed a year ago and it makes for very interesting viewing. Although we have not yet seen the final game, it is clear from the beta, and from Blizzard press releases that the game has changed somewhat from the initial concept. It feels like almost every week since January we had to report that some feature or other of Diablo 3 has been nerfed, or changed, or not what we were expecting. And this is fine. I am not criticising the team by any stretch of the imagination, I think it is safe to rely on Blizzard to bring us a good game. It is just interesting to hear how they felt about the game a year ago when it appears now to be a different beast.

One thing that definitely comes across in the video is how uncertain the guys are that things are going to work. They detail certain aspects that will need to be completely re-written, and although they state that they are certain the target release date will be met, there is something awkward about the way they look. Take a look at the video yourself and tell us what you think in the comment section below.
