Crysis 3: First Game-Player Trailer is Jaw Dropping

Crytek, those lovely, wonderful people have given us all a delicious treat by releasing the very first look at Crysis 3 gameplay in the form of a very polished trailer package. The CryEngine 3 is on remarkable form as it reders thre searing juxtaposition between lush jungle greenery and the industrial bionic combat.

In the trailer the complicated story arc is detailed. New York city is encased in a massive Bio-Dome and you not only have to clear the remaining Ceph, you also have to defeat a rogue military unit under the control of the government called C.E.L.L. (CryNet Enforcement and Local Logistics). The game world is jaw-droppingly beautiful. I know that I am in danger of waxing lyrical, but I am not sure I have seen a shooter game look so stunning. It makes Call of Duty look like the original Doom. I have honestly no idea how they are going to achieve this quality of graphics from the current gen consoles. The answer being that they probably won’t and this game will be a tale of two halves.

The director of creative development, Rasmus Højengaard, has promised though that the gaming experience wouldn’t change despite the difference in processing power. This must mean that Crytek are still placing a strong emphasis on actual gameplay. Otherwise this game could be little more than a pretty face.
