Battlefield 4: EA Confirm Sequel

Battlefield 3’s launch has not been long ago and its DLC has not yet been released but EA has already confirmed Battlefield 4. EA president Frank Gibeau did not hesitate to reveal this fact at a recent keynote at the University of California. Attendees were ready enough to tweet about the announcement.

Of course, players should not be surprised because Battlefield 3 is EA’s fastest seller with five million copies already sold. In what may be interpreted as damage control by some, an EA spokesperson later said that the EA president “was speaking broadly about the Battlefield brand – a brand that EA is deeply passionate about a fan community that EA is committed to.” Still, I think that fourth installment is in the horizon.

DICE executive producer Patrick Back said that “This feels like day one now. It’s exciting. The whole Frostbite 2 thing has opened up a big landscape ahead of us so we can do whatever we want.” This statement makes you wonder if Battlefield 4 will be launching fo current or future generation of consoles. DICE at least built Battlefield 3 using its Frostbite 2 engine, which is pretty new. The engine has been designed to ready the studio for the future and for consoles that will follow the current PlayStation and Xbox.

So with all the talk about new engines and new consoles, where does Battlefield 4 factor in? Should we rely on the recent confirmation of the game? I guess the second question is still easier to answer. I think that Battlefield 4 will be coming out around next year if Battlefield 3’s sales figures should be the basis.

They shouldn’t realse BF4 next year or the year after, most of us saved heaps of money to get equipment that ran BF3, a release of BF4 in the upcoming year would just dampen our spirits and make it feel as though were not capable enough for the BF Franchise anymore, not to mention BF has a reputation of demanding strong engines, Id willingly spend money just for a new BF but next year or the year after? way too soon let us get sick of BF3 first EA!

you all obviously need to get your shit straight, BF3 was a huge seller i admit. but have any of you actually played it, obviously not, it is full of MAJOR bugs and after a whole month, nobody has yet heard a single word from them.

ummm…shouldn’t they at least get BF3 running cleanly before even thinking about BF4. I’ve never seen a product more riddled with problems.

The current battlefield game is broken with constant crashes and the new patches doesn’t allow you to join games. It’s the LAST game for this franchise for me.
