Battlefield 4: EA Back Track On Sequel

There will be a Battlefield 4. I know that probably by now you may actually think that there had been an official announcement anyway. Well, there was an announcement by Frank Gibeau, Electronic Arts’ president, but apparently, EA is taking it back in a way. But I guess the announcement from Gibeau cannot really be undone.

Remember the rumors about Metal Gears Solid 4 on Xbox 360, Half Life Episode 3 and a handheld Xbox console. Well, these rumors are pretty popular but have not really seen the light of day yet. However, we have more hopes about Battlefield 4. At least, we have seen Freddie Wong confidently creating a trailer and behind the scenes for it. Quite an effort right? Especially if there isn’t a Battlefield 4 in the horizon. However, in the case of the video game, it does have Gibeau’s words to back it up. Gibeau is EA president after all. What’s with EA announcing that Frank was actually talking about the Battlefield brand in general? We think that he was pretty clear about what he was trying to say. I mean why do they have to try to make people think that the announcement did not happen? Why not just keep quiet.

Well, I still think that Frank Gibeau as president has the right to announce the game. If he had made a mistake about the announcement and recognized it, he should have acknowledged that mistake instead of the marketing department still trying to salvage a premature announcement by giving an obviously wrong interpretation of what Frank had already said.
